NO REQUESTS: Matchbook series
The first series I began in 2019 when I decided to remove my "hand" from my work. I started using my collections as a new approach in my thinking and work.
I began cutting up my Black Flag records and made functional matchbooks by using all elements from other matchbooks (staple, matches, strike pads).
For the series I decided I needed parameters to work within (as with most series I do). My parameters were only using lp covers from the following artists: Andy Warhol, Richard Prince, and Raymond Pettibon.
At the time I began these, I was thinking about how images that were once impactful in my life (especially Black Flag record covers and the logo) have become so over appropriated that they have lost all impact for me and seem disposable.
